EMILY DANG

Emily Dang
Walking in the woods
2016

This sound collage contains mention of distressing content, and mention of deceased women.

My artworks are a response to different political and social issues. The power of humour, juxtaposition and exaggeration are elements I sought to utilise.

In light of many devastating contemporary political events, this quote by Toni Morrison truly struck me:

“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilisations heal”.
