Applying for intermission (leave of absence)You can apply for intermission via WES. The Enrolments Section provides general information for students wishing to apply for intermission.Students who are on intermission for only semester one should still enrol in units for semester two. Intermission is normally granted for no more than one calendar year or two consecutive semesters. Additional intermission requires appropriate supporting documentation e.g. medical certificate, to be submitted with your intermission application form If a student is granted intermission they must ensure that they are fully enrolled for their return. Re-enrolment for the following year usually commence in October of the current year and closes in mid-November. If a student needs to re-enrol this can be done online via WES. Please note that if a student fails to re-enrol they may have to apply for re-admission into the course as a new student. Monash University requires that students maintain an up to date mailing address at all times throughout your intermission and check their Monash email account regularly for important university information. Extension of intermission period If an student intends extending a period of intermission they must contact the Student and Administrative Services Office, Faculty of Art & Design. Withdrawal from Monash University Please note that a student on intermission will still be an enrolled student at Monash University. They will not have withdrawn from your course. If a student wishes to totally withdraw, they must contact the Student and Administrative Services Office and complete the relevant section of an Enrolment Amendment Form. Credit for prior studies Students are not normally permitted to obtain approved intermission from their course with the intention of undertaking studies at another institution in Australia or overseas. If a student wishes to undertake studies at another institution during the period of intermission, they are advised that credit will not be granted towards their Monash degree.
