Benchmarking quality assessment tasks to facilitate interdisciplinary learning in the creative arts and humanities.

“Collaboration across disciplinary boundaries brings together different perspectives and expertise, as well as opportunities for entirely new approaches and solutions to emerge.” – Dr Kate Tregloan

multiplemeasures.org.au

Good quality interdisciplinary (ID) education is increasingly important for graduates of the twenty first century, and assessment is a key part of the puzzle. The Multiple Measures team, working with a growing community of practice, has developed a searchable online library of ID teaching examples. Search filters developed through the project focus on the Student Cohort, Learning Outcomes, and Pedagogy. The MM library and benchmarking tool helps educators to find and use precedent references for good ID assessment design.

The Multiple Measures project:

• identifies objectives and values of interdisciplinary learning;
• contributes to a shared understanding of ID assessment standards;
• supports teaching staff to develop, articulate and apply assessment approaches and criteria for ID tasks;
• improves the equitable comparison of ID assessment across higher education institutions.

The library continues to grow! Educators who have developed an ID unit/course/subject are encouraged to contribute to the Multiple Measures library and to share good ideas with our growing community of practice.
