Oblivion: Elusive Unconscious explores how interior architecture might engage with the subliminal state of the conscious and unconscious mind to help individuals break away from mundane routines and rituals and connect them with their immediate environment. Through the subterranean site of Degraves St Subway, a series of spatial interventions draws on theories of psychoanalysis to help create a reality-bending, immersive environment. These provocative disruptions explore materiality, projections and lighting to magnify and accentuate how we read a subject; a space that challenges our perception of ourselves and how we experience our physical reality. This project will expose the role of the unconscious mind that drives our behavior and creates our reality. Oblivion: Elusive Unconscious aims to leave individuals to contemplate their attitude to living in the present moment, and encourage ways we can become truly attentive to what is happening around us and the thoughts that go through our minds.
