(Resort) has been mistakenly misconstrued from its original etymology, with images of the stereotypical beach, palm tree, holiday connotations immediately coming to mind. But (Resort) is fundamentally an action of resolution and refuge in our contemporary setting where the omnipresence of technology has created an accelerated, noisy world in both a physical and virtual sense. Thus this project aims to redefine (Resort) as a conceptual framework of escaping one’s surroundings. Rather than simply a spatial construct, (Resort) comes to be redefined as a mental destination. Within the context of this project, (Resort) as a concept of mental rest is implemented to reintroduce moments of escapism into the bustle of the everyday through the implementation of various strategic installations within the city. By virtues of a collective and varied approach to defining (Resort) and the escape, this project can speak on a larger-encompassing, diplomatic platform.
