CUPA is a smart companion for children (4 – 8 years old) that helps foster healthy parent-child relationship, and lays foundation for emotional intelligence (EI). Use together with a mobile app, there are 5 stages of interaction, namely, Awake, Engage, Schedule, Review, and Sleep. There will also be a parent app where busy working parents use it to schedule children’s daily activities on the go or with children, and to get insights of children’s emotional wellbeing. This information can help parents to find topics to discuss with children. Discussing feelings and emotions is proven to encourage children’s EI development.

Studies suggest that interoceptive awareness correlates positively with EI. CUPA uses heartbeat simulation, with deep breathing exercise guided by CUPA character on the app to enhance user’s interoceptive awareness.

Video shows prototype testing where CUPA beats to the user’s heartbeat. Notice the change in pace when breathing in and out.
