This body of work examines inclusion and exclusion. It was informed and inspired by my personal journey as I studied to become a teacher.
The term Neurotypical is a defensive response to exclusion. It is used by the autistic community to describe people who are not on the spectrum. The existence of this term asks questions about how difference is viewed in our society and about the assumptions that are automatically made when society meets diversity.
I wanted to capture the human dilemma by defining the whole, while seeing only a silhouette. Assisted by a single unbroken cut in the glass sheet I present my figures, figures caught between illusion and reality.
