The inspiration for my particular exploration stems from my personal observations and experiences of living and teaching in the small village of Mto Wa Mbu, Tanzania. Having come back, I am now in the process of setting up a community based project called 'The Mto Wa Mbu Project' in order to establish and run a community learning centre in the village. The intention of my work is to explore the notion of relational aesthetics and arts context in a global sense. My works aim to prompt discussion about the project, and create a discourse on what art actually is.

'…works bring into play modes of social exchange, interaction with the viewer inside, the aesthetic experience he or she is offered, and the process of communication in their concrete dimensions as tools that can be used to bring together individuals and human groups.'
- N. Bourriard, Relational Aesthetics
