My work begins by considering the function of painting in a contemporary context; and the relationship had between the lens, the frame of photography and the plane of painting. Taking shape in the form of painting, photography and video installation, my practice attempts to question the function of these devices and the roles which they play in guiding the way that we perceive. By creating frames within the gaze of the camera lens, I attempt to problematize this field of vision via the utilization of various illusions inspired by early cinematic conventions.
