This year my practice began with repeated visits to several isolated environments in rural Victoria. These environments include two caves, a predominantly dry lake and a remote gorge in dry bushland. All four environments are linked by their inaccessibility, isolation and general perception as being prosaic. Through the mediums of film, collage, cardboard installations and subtle public interventions I attempted to evoke the feeling of these locations in the studio environment.

The year culminated in the discovery and proceeding exploration of a disused study isolated at the top of a spiral staircase at university. Treating this forgotten room as a ruin, a moment suspended in time, I undertook an almost archaeological investigation of the space. I attempted to draw parallels between this site and my psyche, focusing on the forces that drive and at times almost force me to isolate myself.
