Hands and fingers are one of the most expressive parts of the human body. My work attempts to capture multifarious physical movement of my hand with symbolic signs or gestures. The hand is essential to the craftsman, my father who is a jade craftsman with over 35 years experience, has a big, rough and hardened hand. As I grew up I observed his steady patience and skill for his craft and his family. Connection the works I have made is a link between my father and me. Represented in these small scale objects which can be held or worn, I have used organic precious stones and constructed finger shaped elements in silver. The pieces capture the stone and fit into the structure of my fingers.
