The philosophy behind this compact kitchen unit is to reconsider the notion of ‘waste’ in the kitchen, particularly with organic matter and water. The most prominent function is an under-sink garbage disposal system that separates organic waste from water; depositing it into a separate bin. The bin may then be removed, and particlised fruit and vegetable matter can then be added to compost or spread over garden beds. Additional features include a chopping board and a tray that may be used as a surface for washing vegetables or, alternately, as a dish drying rack. The unit is a response to current unsustainable waste disposal practices, as well as increasing trends in urbanisation and downsized living arrangements.
