BRING YOUR MIND: The Memory Centre

This research project investigates the growing number of Alzheimer’s sufferers in Australia – an increase due to the imminent aging population. Importantly, this project focussed on how Alzheimer’s disease is increasingly affecting many man and women from the ages of 50 to 69. With such cognitive condition, it creates an additional burden for families and carers of the patients. The question for this project is can spatial and experiential techniques decelerate the process of the cognitive aging for many Alzheimer’s suffers? Thus, the primary way to decelerate their frail condition is delivered through the memory bank and a day-care facility in the former Yorkshire Brewery site in Collingwood. This scheme proposes a facility to mediate the burden from the immediate carer’s persons, as well as to provide a space for professional services, community engagement, as well as education of the disease.
