This research project asks the question: how can we engage Interior Architecture as a tool to mediate new ways of understanding and engaging with the animals we consume. Furthermore; how can spatial practices contribute to the broader issue of animal welfare?

This project aims to look at the cultural tensions in factory farming by bringing the consumer back into contact with the farming and manufacturing process. Sited within the South Wharf cargo sheds; the presently distinct systems of animal consumption and processing are brought together through an urban farmers market, installation, butcher, restaurant and integrated cooking workshop.

Focusing on the first three programmatic stages; this project intends to spatially and experientially break the disconnection between animal and manufactured product.
