Viveka de CostaPosition title: Lecturer, Digital Media, Gippsland Centre for Art and Design Statement Viveka de Costa is a Melbourne-based Graphic and Web designer. Viveka divides her time between freelance design, teaching, and managing the furniture design and craft store Hercynia silva with her husband, furniture maker Michael Conole. After initially commencing studies in archaeology at the University of Sydney, Viveka moved in 1999 to Melbourne where she studied Media Arts at RMIT and Multimedia at Swinburne. Viveka has solid industry experience in Digital Media, working freelance with a range of major clients. Viveka de Costa combines a sensibility for the handmade object with versatility in digital technologies - these two areas are brought together successfully at Hercynia silva, where she markets and promotes the work of several artists and crafts people and produces her own jewellery range.
