Nick MourtzakisPosition title: Studio Coordinator of Drawing Qualifications:
Statement Nick Mourtzakis has conducted an uninterrupted regime of studio practice for over three decades. He has held solo exhibitions from 1976 to the present and his works have been included in numerous curated exhibitions in major public museums and galleries. While his studio practice is perceptually based in the mediums of painting and drawing his work is conceptual in nature and underpinned by scholarly research. He has an abiding interest in all forms of contemporary creative practice. The direction and scope of his research encompasses an analysis of the traditional models and conventions of representational art and its purposes and the development of radical alternatives in the avant-garde movements of recent history. His ongoing research project focuses on a study and further interpretation of Analytical Cubism and the relevance of its innovations to contemporary art.
