A certain hesitancy resides in any attempt to expand upon the reciprocity of painting in the present into the rational- although sometimes irrational- logic of written language. Painting occupies negotiable thresholds through bringing forms into being and then losing them again; the divisionary lines, altered forms and imaginary planes play off this notion, creating tension in the inaccuracy of translation. Occupying a space which recedes and appears, disappears again, remerges and announces itself the more you look, and then at a moment shifts and the announcement belongs to a time past. A moment entrenched in ambiguous gestures, unknown forms and juicy paint.
