lllness, Death and Burial In The Southern Philippines With Special Reference To The Tawsug II 2015
Evolving around a Filipino funeral practice this work responds to a short anthropological text describing Fiilpino funeral practices. Working textually a sequence of different versions of the same text is created, where different words were substituted with objects from different contexts. At first these objects were items of stationary. Later the substitutions drew on a range of aquatic contexts: a marina, a swimming pool, a public toilet. In parallel to this process video imagery began its own process of substitution, where sequences of moving images come to replace and re-articulate writing and new associations begin to emerge.
