The Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) provides a focused study program in graphic design. It is a well established and highly respected degree which attracts excellent industry support. The core units cover graphic design, digital and photomedia, typography, popular culture and the psychology of effective communication.
Central to graphic design studies at Art & Design is studio work. Students undertake Design Studio practice throughout their entire degree, commencing at basic level in first year, and progressively building up to a high level of competence by the end of the degree. The studio major is supported by a selection of electives and specialisations, as well as studies in contemporary design discourse and cultural studies relevant to art and design. Students are also expected to undertake independent research to support their studio practice.
