Sun
2016

Sun was a project done for Illustration as Design where we had to make an illustration for a magazine. The magazine that I intended this illustration to be seen in was a fashion magazine.

Born in 1996, Jennifer Cheng is an Australian-based designer/illustrator.

What sparked her passion to pursue this career was from her early childhood influences: Studio Ghibli. The subtle and harmonious nature of their films has impacted many of her earlier works. She mainly works with watercolour and ink, and has also been exploring digital painting and animation. Taking in inspiration from her Asian background and her love for the Japanese culture, she often uses these two sources for ideas when coming up with designs and art.

This was an illustration designed for the postcards distributed in the MADA Grad show for the purpose of self-promotion. My idea was to convey who I am as a person, so I drew items or words that are related to me.

Ikemeso Danshi
2016

This was a university project that required us to create an identity for a company. I chose to make an identity for a therapeutic service company, "Ikemeso Danshi". This company originated from Japan so I designed the stationary and website in both English and Japanese. The GIF was made to be on the website and the video was intended to be a Youtube advertisement.

Late Bloomers
2016

Late bloomers was a project for Illustration as Narration. The project asked us to make an illustration that was inspired by a quote/saying, and so I based my illustrations off the saying “late bloomers” which is typically how someone would describe another whose talents or capabilities are more obvious at a later time in comparison to others.

This was my graduation project that was dedicated to us fellow third-years in Communication Design. My solutions revolved around the central idea of "Time capsules" and so I made a publication that encompassed the responses that stated an object they would put in a time capsule, where they would bury it and a letter or brief statement they would write to their future selves. This was the animated instructions I made to be played at the exhibition for guests to write their own letter to their future selves.
