The Covert Activation of Dockland's Public Realm

A decade after it's revitalisation, Melbourne's premium harbourside suburb remains a windswept ghost town. The lack of fine grain and community assets in it's masterplan is now being rectified with a new library and the promise of a school and places of worship. But will these facilities be able to support the breadth of communities that exist in Melbourne or will they further propagate gentrification?

This studio will explore how the design of new community assets can be covertly subverted to intensify Dockland's public realm and support the simultaneous occupation of multiple communities.
