ISLAND: GOLI SHOKRPOUR

Goli Shokrpour
Goli Shokrpour, Island Theory
2016

The idea of slides is to make it easy to understand for all groups of people not specifically architects and feel the experience and moments in the project

Working from research and structured improvisation, Goli’s work tests the sustainability of recorded and repeated information as it changes from one form or medium to another including the acts of transcription and translation from the discipline of architecture and experience to time-based forms of image making and design steps.

Working in a discursive manner she is interested in how one thing relates to another, an elastic spatial concept, endlessness, the process of creation and imagination and human and physical responses.

Goli’s practice expands from her background in photography and fineart; technologies that collapse vast fields and the passage of time into the here.

Island Theory
2016

Adapting nature of Island features and getting inspires by selected island neuroscience characteristics to respond to the needs of Island users.

The island theory establishes a framework to understand how people experience & respond to the surrounding built environment. It aims is to help architectural design to enhance the quality of life through increased cognition, prolonged productivity, and enhanced spiritual and emotional response.

2 targets for Island theory:

1. Homeostasis: Island keeps critical context variables in the range of survival

Aim: To develop new approaches to raise LEED GREEN Building Ratings for environmentally sustainable Construction

2. Cognitive social metaphor:

Metaphor support social interaction

Aim: To develop brain operating principles that support a metaphoric architecture ‘’for the “social interaction “of rooms with people and other rooms. Adapting buildings to the needs of their inhabitants

The proposal is suggesting a new island theory based on neuroscience findings, vision which has an enrich base of inspiration through island characteristics. These analyses also enable opportunities to explore issues of energy and ecology, sustainability, interior atmosphere and facilitating of interpersonal relations within the research zone.

The outcome of this investigation I is a pure form that has contaminated, transforming architecture into an agent of instability, disharmony conflict ethos of island. According to its concept, the idea is the most conservative in non - Derridean architecture. The metaphor is to fabricate of use function, principle of abstraction, and composing the fragmentation of pieces, programs, and contexts. The theory results in a better balance of human use and conservation within the marine parks, so that our natural and cultural resources are better protected.
