Benjamin Kampschoer, Port Campbell: Engaging Landscapes 2016
Port Campbell sits between two contrasting landscapes – a rugged coastline and an expanse of verdant pasture. This setting informs designs that address the ecological threats of sea level rise and greenhouse gas emissions from extraneous transport activity, with three new amenity structures enabling a less car-centric and more walkable Port Campbell. The tectonics of these buildings respond to the shifting landscapes in which they are sited, addressing the industrial forms of local agricultural structures and the monumentality of coastal limestone formations. Emphasis has been placed on creating an equitable experience, whilst exploring how regionally sensitive design can assist growing healthier communities.
