This project aims to convey the importance materials have on the new technological revolution. The future of research, production and distribution relies on the understanding of new or old materials in order to produce new innovative products.
How can we look beyond the current process of design, make and distribute, then create a facility that constantly looks to upgrade itself as the old begins to fade and the new comes to light.
With technological advances pointing us forward to a 3-dimensional printed world, a single building which facilitates information, helps to acknowledge an interface between, humans, materials, technology and architecture.
If we look at the building as a machine which converts inputs into outputs, the conversion process itself can be broken up into a series of events, sending information onto various tangents, providing a number of different outcomes. Various pipelines of materials flow through the building, like the flow of information through the machine. They act as the connective string which pieces all the programs together.
